Swimming for Colin

I have decided to do something that may be part of my mid life crisis. I'm planning on swimming 1.1 miles across the Columbia River. The swim is on September 5th, 2011.

Oh yeah, one more thing; I have decided to swim for a cause. Three years ago one of my oldest friends, Jeff Holst, lost his 4 year old son in a drowning accident at a public pool. There were lifeguards and plenty of other people around at the time and after several attempts by different people they could not save his young life.

I can not imagine losing Jillian and yet somehow, Jeff and Jana were able to create a foundation called Colin's Hope in remembrance of their son. Colin's Hope teaches water safety to parents and children in order to help prevent the number one cause of death in children under 4. You can read more about it at www.colinshope.org.

I have arranged with Jeff to "swim" for the Colin's Hope foundation. A donation page has been set up on their website and you can connect to it at the link below. I usually don't ask much from people but this is important to me. Please help support me and Colin's Hope by donating what you can. It would be greatly appreciated.

Challenging swim, and for a good cause. Yes, glad to donate and sponsor you John.
(FYI: The website allows donors to mail their donations/checks too... their mailing address is on the site... don't remember exactly where though)
